Effects of Traditional Way of Fish Consumption in Sri Lanka on Cardiovascular Risk Profiles

The influence of type fish consumption on cardiovascular risk profiles was studied in Sri Lankan community. Achallenge experiment set up to do a research the omega-3 fatty acid content cardiovascularrisk healthy people. Hundred undergraduates (subjects) who were between ages 23 30 yearsand full time resident hostels Lanka, randomly selected for this study. students fed with fishcurry and fried amount 80.41±9.43 g curry or 62.50 ± 11.04 five days per week. Initialand after 24 weeks one year lipid subjects [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride(TG), low densitylipoprotein (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C),and very (VLDL-C)] estimated inserum samples collected at commencement end experiment, using automatic biochemical analyzer theturbidometric method respectively. showed direct effect cardio vascular bydecreasing LDL-C increasing HDL-C decreasing LDL: HDL ratio TC: revealed decreaseof TG serum.
